These are the most frequently asked questions about the MB8D woofer. If your question is not answered here, contact us at info@mb8d.net.
What amplifier power does the MB8D need?
The MB8D is rated at 150W RMS nominal and 300W maximum. A stable amplifier delivering 150–250W RMS at 2 ohms is ideal. Avoid underpowering the MB8D (below 75W RMS) as clipped signals from a driven amplifier cause more damage than clean high-power signals.
Can the MB8D be used in a home hi-fi system?
Yes. The MB8D can be installed in a home subwoofer enclosure and driven by a hi-fi amplifier with a stable 2-ohm output stage, or paired with a 2-to-4 ohm impedance matching transformer for 4-ohm-only amplifiers.
What enclosure volume does the MB8D require?
Sealed: 12–18 litres. Ported: 20–28 litres tuned to 38–42 Hz. Using the MB8D in an enclosure smaller than 12 litres increases mechanical stress and reduces low-frequency extension. Consult the specification sheet Thiele-Small parameters for precise enclosure modelling.
Is the MB8D sold as a single or a pair?
The MB8D is sold as a single unit. For stereo subwoofer applications, order two MB8D woofers. Both units are factory matched for consistent sensitivity and impedance.
What is the warranty on the MB8D?
The MB8D carries a 2-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty does not cover damage from overpowering, improper installation or physical impact.
Where can I buy the MB8D?
The MB8D is available directly through mb8d.net and through authorised car audio retailers. Contact info@mb8d.net for distributor enquiries or bulk pricing.
